4. What types of material can be borrowed and for how long?

Information about types of material can be borrowed and length of loan period can be obtain at the Circulation Counter and Library’s website.

5. What are the functions of a User Account?

Through a user account, a user can perform several transactions such as online renewal, book reservation and others.

6. How do new users obtain the IDs and passwords for their user accounts?

For new users, ‘Patron ID: Students ID/Staff ID’ and ‘Password: 1’. For further information please refers to the Circulation Counter at 06-270 1200.

7. What happens if users forgot ID and password for their user account?

Users can refer to the Circulation Counter at 06-270 1200.

8. How to renew books/materials through online?

Log in to User Account through Library website. Click on ‘On-loan Item’ and choose the book which book from the list of borrowed books/materials. Finally, click on ‘Renew’ at the bottom of borrowed list.

9. Does the library provide a media collection?

Yes, media collection such as CDs, DVDs, Videos and others. All borrowing and inquiries can be made at the Circulation Counter.

10. Who can participate and join the Information Literacy Programme?

This programme are directed specifically at the student, research officer and research assistant. Applications can be made via https://bit.ly/2M2cPf7 link that available at the Laman Hikmah library portal.

11. What is Interlibrary Loan (ILL)?

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a service that allow users to borrow and obtain materials that is not available in UTeM Library.

12. Who is eligible to use ILL?

UTeM staffs and students.

Staffs who are on study leave in local or oversea (only Articles, Conference Papers, Chapters in books are allowed).

13. What kind of material can be supplied through ILL?

  • Book;
  • Journal Articles;
  • Chapter in the book; and
  • Seminar Proceedings

14. What kind of material can not be supplied through ILL?

  • Thesis;
  • Bachelor's Project;
  • Short / Long Term Project;
  • Media materials;
  • Magazines;
  • Journal (printed); and
  • Any material categorized as non-loanable material at PLH.

15. How many materials can be borrowed at one time?

There is no limit on the loan.

16. Is there a service charge?

There is no charge imposed to users who use the service.

All applicants who use this service is subject to the regulations and orders recorded in the Copyright Act 1987 (Act 332).

17. How to make a loan?

Users can continue to submit the complete information of the application via the link: http://bit.ly/2rjanBB that available at Laman Hikmah Library portal.

18. How long to process an application?

Applications will be processed within 10 working days.

19. How long is the period taken by UTeM Library to get the material requested?

Normally books will takes 10 working days while articles 3 working days. However, the period is dependent on the availability of the material and subject to the lending library policy.

20. How long can a material be borrowed?

Term of the loan is dependent on the library that is lending. Usually 2 weeks to 1 month.

21. Can the applicant renew the loan?

Yes. The borrower must inform the Collections, Services & Users Unit by calling 06-270 1206 at least 5 days before the due date. Results for renewing the borrowing term is dependent on the library supplying the materials.
